Cabochons
A cabochon begins as a slab of stone cut to a desired thickness. The stone could be precious or simply pretty. A template is etched into the slab, then cut around to a manageable size. A cabochon is distinct from other gem stones because it is not faceted. Various cutting and grinding tools shape the cabochon before it is polished to reveal its hidden beauty. Within the Jonanco Lapidary Program, there are several jewellery making techniques available to present your cabochon to its best advantage.
