Lapidary

Lapidary comes from the Latin root word lapis, meaning stone. In the 14th century, the term meant stonecutter or one working with precious stones. A lapidary is an artist who practices the craft of working, forming and finishing stone made into decorative items or cabochons in jewelry making. Today, most lapidaries use motorized equipment.
